The Bacolod Tay Tung High School Thunderbolts split their first two games to start the Rebisco Volleyball League 18 and Under International Finals at the Gameville Ball Park in Mandaluyong City on Wednesday, November 27.

The Thunderbolts had a dominant start as they swept the Northern California Volleyball Association of the United States, 25-15, 25-7, before suffering a surprising 25-20, 25-22 defeat to Kings Montessori School.

According to Thunderbolts team manager Jose Montalbo, the defeat of the Western Visayas representatives served as a lesson for them to continue improving their game as they moved along in the tournament.

“This only shows that there are still things that need to be improved on,” Montalbo said.

“Not because we were able to beat them before, we can do it again. This is an eye-opener for the team,” he added.

The Thunderbolts will conclude their elimination round matches against University of San Jose-Recoletos today before proceeding with the playoffs matches later in the day./ASC, WDJ
