A 14-year-old boy has admitted to murdering his eight-year-old nephew, who was found in a state of decomposition at Barangay Santol in Negros Occidental’s Binalbagan town over the weekend.

Binalbagan police chief Major Jun Ray Batadlan said the suspect confessed to attacking the boy with a bolo.

However, he did not disclose the motive behind the crime.

Batadlan said that since the suspect is a minor, he is now under the custody of the Binalbagan Municipal Social Welfare and Development for appropriate intervention and disposition.

Investigations are ongoing to determine the circumstances of the accident.

Police said the victim was found in a state of decomposition with severe mutilations — a missing shoulder, a hand and both feet — in a sugarcane field near his aunt’s house in Sitio Omot on November 23.

Batadlan said blood-stained clothing belonging to the suspect was found at the scene.

Earlier, the victim’s father, Rolly Villaespin, reported his missing son after he failed to return home from school on November 19.

He assumed he had stayed with his aunts, as the school was about an hour’s walk from their house.

Villaespin began searching for the boy when he discovered he was not at his aunt’s house on November 22, police said./JB, WDJ
