The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) in Bacolod City said unattended candles were the cause of two separate fires in Barangays Cabug and Sum-ag in the city on the night of All Saints’ Day, November 1.
BFP-Bacolod Fire Officer 2 Rolin Paulan said the first blaze occurred in Purok Lemon Grass, Barangay Cabug at 7:40 p.m.
The fire gutted a house owned by Osalie Cuarte, resulting in damages estimated at P60,000.
A fire out was declared 10 minutes later.
At 8:20 p.m., another fire broke out in Barangay Sum-ag’s Purok Badiang.
Responding fire units arrived to find the blaze already extinguished at a house owned by Jhondel Aurelio.
The BFP said the damage due to the fire was P6,250.
