The 45th MassKara Festival was generally peaceful and orderly, the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) said yesterday.
“Overall, our assessment is that the MassKara Festival is peaceful, with only one incident of a self-inflicted injury,” BCPO Director Colonel Joeresty Coronica said.
All festival sites — Lacson Street, Bacolod City Government Center, the Bacolod Public Plaza, and Megaworld’s The Upper East — have not recorded any significant incidents, he added.
Meanwhile, Brigadier General Jack Wanky, director of the Police Regional Office in Western Visayas, said there were no major crime incidents reported throughout the festival, which began on October 12.
Wanky commended the police personnel deployed across various festival sites for their efforts in maintaining order during the celebrations.
Earlier this month, Wanky said they are aiming for zero casualties during the MassKara festivities until its highlights on Sunday, October 27.
More than 2,000 police officers and force multipliers were deployed to ensure the safety and security of attendees throughout the MassKara Festival, highlighting the city’s commitment to providing a safe environment for both locals and visitors./JB, WDJ
