A man died after the trailer truck he was riding fell into a 20-foot ravine at Barangay Fabrica in Negros Occidental’s Sagay City on Monday, October 21.
Police identified the victim as 22-year-old Jhon Vincent Montemor of Cebu City.
Sagay police chief, Colonel Alvimar Flores, said the truck loaded with assorted pasalubong products was headed to Bacolod from Cebu around 10:30 a.m.
Flores said the 47-year-old driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle due to heavy load.
It moved in a reversed direction and turned upside down before falling off a ravine.
The driver managed to jump out of the truck, police said.
However, Montemor failed to get out as he was stuck in the front seat.
Rescuers retrieved his body five hours after the incident.
His remains will be transported back to Cebu.
Meanwhile, the driver was released from custody after the lapse of his reglementary detention./WDJ
