Chicken inasal is the no.1 Filipino food, according to TasteAtlas’ list of Top 100 Filipino food.
The international publication which regularly explores the world through local food, describes chicken inasal as a “unique Filipino grilled chicken dish” with Bacolod as its origins.
“It became the signature dish of the entire Visayas region,” TasteAtlas said.
“It employs various chicken cuts marinated in a mixture of vinegar and numerous spices such as lemongrass, garlic, and ginger,” it said and highlighted the role of annatto.
TasteAtlas also gave its recommendations on where to have the best chicken inasal, naming the famed Aida’s, Nena’s Beth at Manokan Country, Island Chicken Inasal, Balay Dako, and Barrio Inasal as among the top places to enjoy the dish.
Chicken inasal received the rating of 4.5 stars.
Lechon came in second at 4.4 stars, while leche flan ranked third, also at 4.4 stars.
Bulalo (fourth) and lumpiang shanghai (fifth) complete the Top 5 of the list.
Sinigang na baboy, tortang talong, lechon kawali, Bicol express, and arroz caldo round up the Top 10.
In September, TasteAtlas readers also named chicken inasal — along with sinigang — as the best Filipino food of September. (GMA Integrated News)
