Truck driver shot dead

A truck driver was shot to death by a security guard at a construction site at Purok Florenceville in Bacolod City’s Barangay Pahanocoy on Thursday, October 10.

Police identified the victim as 43-year-old Benigno Zamora, a resident of Barangay Mailum in Negros Occidental’s Bago City, while the suspect was identified as 44-year-old Rolly Escaro, a resident of Cadiz City’s Barangay Burgos.

According to the initial investigation of Bacolod City Police Station 8, Zamora went to the construction site to get his trip ticket from Escaro.

A heated argument ensued between the two.

Zamora managed to get his trip ticket from the suspect and immediately boarded his motorcycle.

The security guard suddenly pulled out a .38 caliber revolver and shot the victim in the head, causing him to fall from the vehicle.

Escaro approached the victim and fired several gunshots at him, killing him on the spot.

The suspect was arrested by the authorities hours after the incident.

A .38 caliber pistol with four rounds of ammunition and two fired cartridges were recovered from the suspect.

The Bacolod City Police Station 8 has already filed a case against the security guard.
