The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in Negros Occidental will strictly monitor seaports, airports and terminals for the possible entry of illegal drugs into Bacolod City during the celebration of the 45th MassKara Festival from October 12 to 27.
In a radio interview yesterday, Alvin Clemente, head of the PDEA Regional Special Enforcement Unit, said they are expecting volumes of illegal drugs entering the city during the festivities.
The authorities continue to monitor suspected drug personalities in the city.
Earlier, operatives of the Bacolod City Police Office seized more than P3 million worth of illegal drugs in separate buy-bust operations in the city.
A P1.394 million worth of suspected shabu was recovered from a lone suspect in Purok San Jose 2, Barangay Sum-ag on Tuesday morning, October 8.
The high-value drug personality yielded about 205 grams of shabu pegged at P6,800 per gram, the report from the City Drug Enforcement Unit showed.
Three drug suspects were arrested in separate buy-bust operations last week.
On October 1, alias “Toto” was arrested in Barangay 10’s Purok Magti-ayon after 50 grams of suspected shabu worth P340,000 were found in his possession.
On the following day, alias “Jefferson” was collared by operatives of Police Station 7 in Purok Kahirup A in Barangay Mansilingan after he yielded about 15 grams of shabu valued at P102,000.
On October 3, alias “Inday” was arrested in a buy-bust in Purok Langis, Barangay Banago.
Around 80 grams of suspected shabu worth P544,000 were found in her possession, the police report said./ With reports from PNA / WDJ
