The Converge FiberXers took down the San Miguel Beermen, 114-100, in Game 4 of the PBA Governors’ Cup quarterfinals on Friday, October 5, at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium in Manila.

The win forced the series to a do-or-die Game 5.

The Beermen were trailing 89-84 early in the fourth period, but the FiberXers made a 10-1 run to further widen the gap.

The Beermen then cut the deficit to a single digit, 103-94, with 3:06 remaining, but Bryan Santos’ triples gave Converge a 109-95 advantage at the 2:36 mark. Time was on Converge’s side then as it led by as much as 17, 114-97, before the series was evened, 2-2.

Converge head coach Franco Atienza is aware that a rubber match will be a different kind of game.

“We forced a do-or-die, but whenever you go on a sudden death, wala na ‘yung mga stats, wala na ‘yung previews. Everything is out of the window,” he said.

The locals led the FiberXers as import Jalen Jones got into foul trouble early in the game. Schonny Winston had 26 points, six rebounds, five assists, a steal, and a block, while Justin Arana had 25 points, eight boards, four assists, one steal, and one block. Jones, meanwhile, had 22 points, seven rebounds, four steals and two assists.

San Miguel import EJ Anosike had 35 points, 11 rebounds, two assists, and a steal, while June Mar Fajardo had 17 points, 20 rebounds, four assists, and two blocks. (GMA Integrated News)
