Bacolod cops seize P3.7-M illegal drugs in weeklong ops

Drug enforcement teams seized P3.702 million in shabu and arrested 13 individuals in Bacolod City in the past week, a report from the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) showed yesterday.

“This has been accomplished as part of our relentless campaign against all forms of criminality,” Colonel Joeresty Coronica, city police director, said.

From September 16 to 22, the drug haul totaled 544.57 grams of shabu with a standard drug price of P6,800 per gram.

Among the recoveries are the 350 grams of shabu valued at P2.38 million during a buy-bust in Purok Himaya, Barangay Mansilingan on September 19.

The four arrested suspects included two brothers, their cousin and a companion.

The primary subject of the operation was one of the brothers who was under surveillance for two weeks, Lt. Colonel Antonio Benitez Jr., chief of the City Drug Enforcement Unit, said.

On Sunday, September 22, two individuals, “Raymond,” 36 years old, and “Clarisse,” 18 years old, were arrested by operatives of Police Station 2 during a buy-bust in Purok Lampirong, Barangay 2.

Both yielded 26 grams of shabu valued at P176,800, the police report showed.

According to the BCPO, cases were already filed in court against the 13 arrested individuals for violating Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. (PNA)
