Negrense guard Mark Nonoy is eager to bring the experience he gained from the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) when he begins his stint with the Terrafirma Dyip in the PBA.
According to the Negros Occidental’s La Carlota City native spitfire, he hopes to give a positive impact for the Dyip, which is currently struggling in the PBA Governors’ Cup with a 0-8 win-loss slate.
“Sobrang thankful ako sa experience ko dito sa MPBL. Nagpapasalamat ako sa Iloilo [United Royals] management na, kahit matagal akong nawala, tinanggap pa din nila ako sa team na ito,” Nonoy said.
“‘Yung experience na nakuha ko dito sa MPBL, malaking bagay din pagtapak ko sa PBA,” the former University of Santo Tomas Growling Tigers and De La Salle University Green Archers guard added.
Nonoy, who previously played for Hua Siong College of Iloilo Red Phoenix in high school, tallied a career-high of 32 points in the United Royals’ 104-100 win over the 1Bataan Risers at the Paco Arena in Manila on Tuesday night, September 17.
Nonoy was unable to make his debut for the Dyip in the ongoing Governors’ Cup, as the United Royals management refused to release him until they conclude their campaign in the 2024 MPBL Season.
The United Royals still have two games remaining in their schedule, against the Valenzuela City Dynacast at the WES Arena in Valenzuela City on September 24, and the Sarangani Marlins at the San Andres Sports Complex in Manila on September 28./ASC, WDJ
