Police officers arrested a “high-value” drug suspect and seized some P7.3 million worth of shabu in Negros Oriental province on Tuesday, September 10.

Lt. Stephen Polinar, spokesperson of the Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office (NOPPO), told the Philippine News Agency yesterday that the 45-year-old suspect identified as alias “Opaw” was nabbed during a buy-bust operation in Purok Sebastian, Barangay Buntis in Bacong town at 3:00 p.m.

The suspect was apprehended after he sold some 1.09 kilos of shabu to a police poseur buyer.

“We are looking into reports that outside sources of shabu shipped to Negros Oriental are distributed to local suppliers who are told through phone calls to get the illegal drugs at a designated pick-up point,” Polinar said in mixed English and Cebuano.

The suspect would face charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. (PNA).
