The father of the slain Grade 10 student Pearl Joy Galve has expressed his intention to file charges against his former wife and her live-in partner in connection to his daughter’s alleged abuse.
In a radio interview over the weekend, Jaime Galve said he will coordinate with the National Bureau of Investigation to pursue legal action against Jennifer Galve and her partner Rene John Nacis.
Jaime believes that Jennifer was aware of the alleged abuse of Pearl Joy by making her complicit in the crime.
“It is impossible for Jennifer not to have noticed the inappropriate behavior of Nacis towards our daughter,” he said.
Jaime added that Nacis’ revelation of molesting Pearl Joy since she was 12 years old had only fueled his anger and resolve to seek justice for his daughter.
On Friday, August 30, Nacis denied any involvement in his daughter’s death.
Jennifer, during her testimony to the NBI last week, revealed that she had been allegedly threatened by Nacis and several individuals.
She was warned that she would be killed if she reported the murder to the authorities.
In a separate radio interview, city police said Pearl Joy’s best friend disclosed that the victim told her about experiencing inappropriate touches while sleeping, which she first noticed when she was in Grade 7.
Pearl Joy had woken up several times to find her bra strap undone, a clear indication of the abuse, police said.
Earlier, an autopsy revealed that Pearl Joy succumbed to multiple injuries to the head, neck, chest, abdomen, waist, arms, and legs, indicating that she was beaten.
La Carlota police chief, Colonel Lymel John Pasquin, said it is still unconfirmed whether the victim was raped, but there is a possibility of sexual assault.
Her mouth was covered with duct tape, and her hands were bound behind her back.
Galve, a resident of Barangay Sum-ag, was reportedly missing on July 29, based on a blotter report.
She was last seen attending a half-day class on the said date.
