The Bacolod Tay Tung High School 16-Under Thunderbolts clinched the crown in the NEFVIE Age Group Volleyball Girls One-Day League held recently at the Montalbo Volleyball Court in Bacolod City.

The 16-Under Thunderbolts claimed the category championship following a 30-28 victory over Calvary Pontevedra in the one-game finale match.

Memielle Letran was named as Most Valuable Player, while Marishka Andrada was hailed as Best Setter, Shannen Bañas as Best Libero, and Zelver Banguiao as Best Middle Blocker.

Other members of the Tay Tung 16-U are Kyana Cortez, Jamyl Montalbo, Sam Cañete, Nicole Getino, Athena Magbanua, Jemimah Calvo, Yz Montalbo, Ariane Alayon, and Luchi Vivero.

Serving as head coach for the Thunderbolts 16-Under team is Gee Banzuela, with Jose Montalbo as team manager.

Meanwhile, the Bacolod Tay Tung 13-and-Under team fell short of making it a double championship after dropping their championship match.

The Biboy Calamba-mentored squad fell short of clinching the title after losing to ICSA-Iloilo City in the finals.

“It was very unfortunate that we fell short, but this is a great learning experience for the players, who are mostly younger than 13 years,” Calamba said.

The NEFVIE Age Group Volleyball Girls One-Day League was presented by the Negros Federation Volleyball Enthusiast Inc. and JGM Dreams Foundation Inc./ASC, WDJ
