A total of 130 “Very Important Pinoys” (VIPs) from New York, composed of Filipinos and Americans, will visit Negros Occidental from July 22 to 23 for a cultural exchange program.

This is in collaboration with the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), the Bacolod City government, and the Negros Occidental provincial government.

Provincial Tourism Office head Cheryl Decena said the VIPs will be touring the province’s popular tourist destinations and attractions.

“We will be bringing them heritage tours for them to experience,” Decena said.

The group will also be treated to native products and delicacies from the region, showcasing the best of what Negros Occidental has to offer.

Decena emphasized that the majority of the visitors are Filipinos from New York, but they will also be accompanied by non-Filipino guests invited by DFA.

She also expressed excitement about the upcoming visit, highlighting the importance of collaboration between local government units and government agencies in making the event a success.

“[The] collaboration is crucial in making this event happen,” she said.

The visit is expected to promote cultural understanding between the two groups, strengthening ties between Filipinos living abroad and those in the province./JB, WDJ
