Members of the Regional Joint Peace and Security Coordinating Center (RJPSCC) 6 gathered to discuss and coordinate plans aimed at achieving a state of Stable Internal Peace and Security (SIPS) in Western Visayas.
Key officials of the 3rd Infantry (Spearhead) Division (3ID) of the Philippine Army, Police Regional Office 6, and Coast Guard District Western Visayas respectively presented updates and significant accomplishments of its Internal Security Operations (ISO), including its initiated encounters against the Communist Terrorist Groups (CTGs).
Per the report of the 3ID, eight out of nine active guerrilla fronts of the CTG in Western Visayas since 2019 have been successfully dismantled, leaving one weakened.
The Coast Guard District-Western Visayas also discussed updates on maritime and port security, including their efforts in support of ISO, while PRO-6 presented updates on the crime situation and likewise its efforts and accomplishments in support of ISO.
To further strengthen their joint efforts in establishing a SIPS environment in the region, the body also discussed significant insights and suggestions to enhance their ISO-related activities, such as the Community Support Program and Revitalized-Pulis sa Barangay, which are imperative to attaining the said shared vision.
For his part, 3ID Commander Major General Marion Sison mentioned that the accomplishments presented by the RJPSCC members clearly showed that the security sector is on the winning side, especially now that Negros Island is in the process of declaring under SIPS status.
“Despite the gains that we have, we should not be complacent. If Negros Island is declared an area with Stable Internal Peace and Security, we should expect that the remnants of the CPP-NPA-NDF will attempt to sabotage and create noise and propaganda. We should not lower our guard, as these remnants still have the capability to stage atrocities against us,” said Sison.
He also emphasized the importance of cooperation and coordination in the success of peace and security efforts.
“We are winning not only because of the Army, but also due to cooperation, coordination, and collaboration with our counterparts. The assistance you have provided us has been immense and has made our job easy. With this in mind, let us not only enhance our cooperation and coordination but also strengthen our camaraderie as members of the security sector. Above all, let us always walk the talk,” Sison added. (PIA-6)
