The Leonardo Panaligan Command of the New People’s Army (NPA) said it was behind the killing of a resident, who they claimed as a military intelligence asset, in Negros Occidental’s Moises Padilla town last week.

Tongkai Golez, 37 years old, was killed while his nine-year-old daughter was injured after they were shot by three unidentified suspects in their house at Sitio Coyaoyao on April 24.

The NPA claimed that Tongkai was an intelligence asset of the Philippine Army’s 62nd Infantry Battalion in Negros.

An initial police investigation revealed that the suspects asked for water, as Golez and his family were inside their house.

When Golez opened the door, he was shot several times, causing his death.

His daughter was hit by a stray bullet, sustaining an injury to her right hand.

Meanwhile, the Army has not released any statement regarding the incident./JB, WDJ
