The Creamline Cool Smashers renewed their mastery over sister team Choco Mucho Flying Titans with a 25-17, 25-22, 25-19 straight-set romp in the PVL 1st All-Filipino Conference at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on Thursday night, April 18.

Bea de Leon, who transferred to the Cool Smashers from the Flying Titans during the offseason, finished with nine points on six attacks and three blocks to be named Player of the Game.

“Malaking bagay na kasama ko sa court ‘yung mga teammates ko na hindi talaga ako pinabayaan. They are by my side, and they guided me talaga. Galing sa kanila at sa coaches ang confidence ko,” De Leon said.

“At some point, kinakabahan din ako [going up against my former team], pero nag-pray ako kay Lord na i-guide niya ako for this game,” the former Ateneo de Manila University Blue Eagles middle blocker added.

The Cool Smashers flexed their dominance in the opening set with six blocks en route to a 25-17 lead before clawing their way back from a deficit in the second set for a tight 25-22 victory.

In the third set, the Cool Smashers cruised to an 8-3 start behind attacks from Jeanette Panaga and Alyssa Valdez.

The Flying Titans kept the set close, but Creamline delivered timely hits to secure the game in straight sets.

With the outcome, the Cool Smashers and the Flying Titans are now tied for first spot with an 8-2 win-loss slate, ahead of the Chery Tiggo Crossovers, the Petro Gazz Angels and the PLDT High Speed Hitters.

Meanwhile, the Farm Fresh Foxies showed no mercy to their sister team, Strong Group Athletics, with a dominant 25-10, 25-15, 25-22 to snap their five-game losing streak and improve to a 3-7 record.

Trisha Tubu spearheaded the victory with 13 points, while Caitlyn Viray added 11 points on eight attacks, two blocks and one service ace, while Angeline Legacion had 12 excellent sets.

“Thankfully, nakuha po ulit namin ‘yung win after consecutive losses,” Viray said.

“Maganda po ito na paghuhugutan namin para sa last game namin against Choco Mucho [Flying Titans],” she added./ASC, WDJ
