The Commission on Elections (Comelec) in Bacolod City will delist 24,759 voters for failing to vote in two consecutive elections.

“They will be deactivated from the registration records once the Election Registration Board [ERB] approves it during the conduct of the ERB hearing on April 15,” Comelec-Bacolod officer Kathrina Trinio-Caña said.

They will be delisted as most of them failed to vote in two consecutive elections, while others have died or transferred to another municipality or city.

Trinio-Caña said voters could file for reactivation of their registration records.

Comelec will send deactivation notices for delisted voters.

At least 12,228 voter registrations will be presented during ERB’s first quarter hearing.

Around 2,000 registrations are scheduled to be heard in the second quarter hearing in July.

Based on the local Comelec office’s records, 340,098 individuals were registered voters during the conduct of the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections last year./MS, WDJ
