President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. has committed to supporting the agriculture sector and farmers following the distribution of 4,724 land titles to beneficiaries in Negros Occidental on Monday, April 8.
Marcos urged the Department of Agrarian Reform to strengthen partnerships with other government agencies to efficiently identify beneficiaries and maximize the use of distributed land.
Addressing agrarian reform beneficiaries as modern-day heroes, Marcos highlighted their crucial role in ensuring food security for every Filipino family.
Electronic certificates of land ownership recipients registered before July 4, 2023, no longer have to pay amortizations.
The New Agrarian Emancipation Act, passed in June of last year, abolished farmers’ outstanding debts related to land acquisition by the government.
The agrarian reform program goes beyond distributing titles to farmers, as it also provides fertilizers, farm equipment and farm-to-market roads.
Marcos is also planning to visit Mindanao to distribute more titles to farmer-beneficiaries.
The program aims to provide 100,000 titles nationwide this year./JB, WDJ
