The Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOCPPO) said yesterday this year’s observance of Holy Week was generally peaceful.

The NOCPPO did not record any serious incidents during the period.

However, the provincial police’s Public Information Office has recorded 11 incidents, involving eight focus crimes, since Holy Monday, March 25.

These included one theft, four physical injuries and six murder incidents.

Four drowning incidents, nine vehicular accidents, one electrocution, one suicide, and three fire incidents were also recorded.

The NOCPPO also carried out several law enforcement operations in the province, resulting in the arrests of 11 individuals for illegal drugs, 10 for illegal gambling and five for illegal possession of firearms.
