The Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) Station 1 may have just foiled a possible robbery attempt of a pawnshop in the city’s downtown area.
Police Station 1 commander Major Elmer Bonilla said he deployed his personnel to the establishment on Monday night, March 25, after a security guard of the pawnshop heard noises coming from the drainage system.
The security guard described the noise as akin to a person trying to dig a tunnel.
Bonilla said three security guards from nearby establishments had also heard the same noise for three nights already.
The City Engineer’s Office and BCPO inspected the drainage system yesterday morning, but they didn’t discover any signs that a person or group were in the drainage system.
Nonetheless, Bonilla said they will continue to investigate the alleged robbery attempt.
He also praised the guards in the area for reporting the incident to police, especially as the city is on high alert for Holy Week./DGB, WDJ
