The Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) has started the monitoring of transport terminals in the city ahead of the expected influx of travelers for the Holy Week break.

BCPO spokesperson, Lt. Colonel Ronnie Brillo said police respondents are now dispatched to transport terminals, places of worship and resorts.

They are also conducting close monitoring at the Bredco and Banago ports for Iloilo-bound passengers.

As of yesterday, the situation at the ports remains normal.

It is expected that the number of travelers will increase starting on Holy Wednesday afternoon, March 27.

Around 1,000 uniformed personnel are now deployed in the city for the observance.

The BCPO and the Philippine Red Cross have already set up their assistance desks at north and south bus terminals.

Meanwhile, in a radio interview yesterday, Vallacar Transit Incorporated Legal and Media Relations Manager Jade Seballos said there will be no changes to their bus schedules during Holy Week.

However, Seballos said they would temporarily halt their trips to southern Negros from 12:00 noon to 2:00 p.m. on Good Friday, March 29.

Normal trip schedules will still be observed for trips heading to the province’s northern part.

Seballos also said the riding public can view their bus trip schedules on their official social media page.

Meanwhile, as the province continues to experience hot and dry conditions, Seballos reminded travelers to drink plenty of water to prevent heat stroke, and avoid exposing themselves to heat./DGB, WDJ
