Seven business establishments and a house were ravaged by a fire at Barangay 8 in Negros Occidental’s Isabela town on Monday morning, March 18.
Bureau of Fire Protection-Isabela fire marshal, Senior Fire Officer 3 Annie Rose Limsiaco said the blaze started at 4:10 a.m. in the house of 57-year-old Isidro Casuyon on Magallanes Street.
Limsiaco said the blaze was caused by electrical issues, possibly due to an old electric fan left plugged.
Among the business establishments inside a commercial complex which were destroyed in the fire include a salon and a lending firm.
A remittance center and a church also suffered partial damage.
An initial P85,000 worth of damage was left by the fire.
However, Limsiaco said this figure could increase pending their assessment and valuation.
Investigations into the cause of the fire are ongoing./JB, WDJ
