The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) broke ground for the P15 million multipurpose building and radar station in Bacolod City’s Bredco Port on Thursday afternoon, March 14.
Coast Guard District-Western Visayas (CGDWV) commander, Captain Weniel Azcuna, expressed his gratitude for bringing the project into reality.
Azcuna said the concept of the station was conceptualized way back in 2017.
The CGDWV head said the new radar station will not only serve as a physical structure, but will also become the symbol of safety and security for Negros Occidental’s maritime community.
Azcuna said the facility is expected to enhance the PCG’s ability to monitor and respond to maritime threats, ensuring a safer environment for all.
He also assured that the PCG is fully committed to serving and protecting Negrenses.
The new PCG building at Bredco Port will be constructed on a 500-square meter lot donated by the Bredco management.
During the groundbreaking activity, Bredco president John Alonte and Coast Guard Station-Northern Negros Occidental chief, Commander Joe Luviz Mercurio signed the deed of donation for the lot./DGB, WDJ
