The charred body found at Sitio Alegria, Barangay 5 in Negros Occidental’s Isabela town was subjected to examination.

Isabela police chief, Captain Ar-Jay Dangarang, said the property owner discovered the body after the sugarcane field was burned before harvest.

Dangarang said the body has not been identified yet.

They could not determine yet if the victim was killed and dumped in the sugarcane field prior to the burning.

The authorities are coordinating with other police stations to identify the victim.

The possibility of foul play has not been ruled out as the investigation is ongoing.

Dangarang also appealed to anyone who may have a missing family member or any information about the victim to promptly report and coordinate with police.

“Kung sino man ang may kamag-anak na nawawala, i-report po kaagad at makipag-coordinate sa malapit na police station kasi hindi makakausad ang imbestigasyon hangga’t hindi nakikilala ang biktima,” he said./JB, WDJ
