Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson said yesterday that they are still waiting for confirmation from the Department of Education (DepEd) if the Western Visayas Regional Athletic Association (WVRAA) Meet 2024 will be held in the province.

According to Lacson, he is hoping that the DepEd will inform them within this month, as they need time to prepare for the WVRAA Meet, which is usually held in April.

Earlier, Lacson signified that the province was ready to host the sporting event.

He expects that the meet will coincide with the upcoming Panaad sa Negros Festival.

Meanwhile, Lacson revealed that the Panaad sa Negros Festival 2024 will have its official launch on March 8.

Lacson said they will still use the same music from last year, although the official music video will have to be replaced.

The governor also revealed that the provincial government will extend a P350,000 subsidy to every local government unit which they can use for their pavilions in the festival./DGB, WDJ
