A woman was killed while her husband was injured after their tricycle was hit by a jeepney at Barangay Patic in Negros Occidental’s Pulupandan town on Saturday, February 3.

Pulupandan police chief, Captain Emman Anacleto, identified the fatality as 48-year-old Lilibeth Arandilla, while the injured was 46-year-old Danilo, residents of Bago City’s Barangay Pacol.

They were onboard a tricycle, as a 10-wheeler truck swerved to avoid a tree branch, Anacleto said.

The jeepney driver, which was tailing the tricycle, accidentally hit the latter, as he failed to notice that it had stopped.

Lilibeth died on the spot after she was thrown off and run over by the truck.

Danilo suffered minor injuries, police said.

None of the eight jeepney passengers sustained injuries from the collision.

The jeep and truck drivers are in police custody./JB, WDJ
