A man was found lifeless on a beach at Barangay Lipat-on in Negros Occidental’s Calatrava town on Thursday, February 1.
The victim was identified as 33-year-old Elmer Baretos, a resident of the town’s Barangay Lemery.
Municipal police chief, Major Ronald Santillan, said a fisherman spotted Baretos floating in the sea at Purok 3.
A post-mortem examination showed Baretos died of asphyxia and incidental drowning.
Santillan said Baretos’ family reported that the victim had been acting differently for three days and had not eaten.
He was showing signs of depression, they said.
The family did not file any complaints regarding the incident as no signs of foul play were found./JB, WDJ
