The Almana Property and Development Corporation (APDC) has contested the Bacolod Real Estate Development Corporation’s (Bredco) application to expand the development of its ports by reclaiming an additional 25 hectares in the Reclamation Area.

APDC president Ritchie Neil Corpus conveyed his opposition in a letter dated January 9, against the extension of foreshore land reclamation under the existing Comprehensive Revised Reclamation Agreement.

Corpus also expressed his objection to Bredco’s request for Resolution of No Objection from the Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP).

The SP was scheduled to deliberate on the request during a regular session yesterday afternoon.

APDC submitted an unsolicited proposal to Bacolod City Mayor Alfredo Benitez in November 2022 for Almana Global Business District Project, which encompasses the reclamation and development of foreshore land along the coastline of Bacolod City’s Barangay 16.

Meanwhile, Bredco president Jose Antonio Alonte, Jr. clarified that they possessed a miscellaneous lease agreement with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources for 25 years — from July 19, 2004 until July 13, 2029 — which underscores Bredco’s right to the properties in the Reclamation Area./DGB, WDJ
