A criminology student was accused after he allegedly molested a minor inside a restobar in Bacolod City.
Police Station 2 commander, Captain Glenn Montaño, has requested not to identify both the minor and the student.
He said the case has already been forwarded to the Women and Children’s Protection Desk (WCPD) of the Bacolod City Police Office.
Montaño said, based on the complaint, the incident allegedly took place at a restobar on 17th Lacson Street in Barangay 7 at around 10:00 p.m. on December 8.
Montaño said the victim was not aware of the incident, but she was surprised when a video, where she was seen sleeping beside the suspect, surfaced on social media.
The suspect was also seen allegedly touching her while they were in a drinking session.
Montaño said they will file rape charges, in relation to Republic Act (RA) 8353, and RA 7610, or the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act, against the suspect.
He added that those who recorded the incident and posted it on social media may also face cybercrime raps.
The police commander said they have already received three affidavits from the victim for the appropriate filing of charges.
Following the incident, Montaño also reminded restobar owners that they are not allowed to accept minors.
They are also not allowed to serve alcoholic beverages to them.
He also reminded parents to be mindful of their children’s activities./DGB, WDJ
