The Negros Occidental provincial government is looking into all possibilities over the alleged robbery incident at the Provincial Engineer’s Office motorpool on Bacolod City’s Gatuslao Street.
Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson said the hole in the wall of the motorpool’s supply room was not made in one day.
Lacson said the suspects may have bored through the hole for at least a couple of days before finally gaining entry into the facility.
The robbers carted away at least P470,000 worth of vehicle batteries and motor oil.
Lacson also affirmed that there were no closed-circuit television cameras inside the motorpool.
The governor said they are currently awaiting the final report from the Bacolod City Police Office.
Earlier, Provincial Legal Officer Atty. Alberto Nellas said they will install additional security cameras in the facility.
Several persons of interest have already been identified, but Nellas has refused to name them.
Arnel Argusar, head of the Provincial General Services Office, said they discovered the robbery following their regular inventory on October 31.
The initial investigation said the burglars accessed a hole in the wall of the motorpool’s supply room.
The hole was not easily noticed as the suspects covered it with hollow blocks.
Argusar said they believed the suspects may have been occupants of the adjacent house./DGB, WDJ
