The Department of Trade and Industry in Central Visayas (DTI-7) has issued notices of violations against 11 establishments in Negros Oriental and Siquijor for violation of product standards.

Jade Krystle Bato, DTI-Negros Oriental planning coordinator and public information officer assigned to the Consumer Protection Division, told the Philippine News Agency yesterday, that the establishments violated certain trade laws, aside from selling sub-standard products and without the Philippine Standard quality or safety mark.

Eight of the establishments are in Negros Oriental and three are in Siquijor.

The Regional Enforcement Team conducts a regular inspection of establishments, composed of DTI personnel from the regional office and the four Central Visayas provinces of Cebu, Bohol, Negros Oriental, and Siquijor.

Estefania Suralta, DTI Regional Consumer Protection Division chief, led the three-day inspection and enforcement, from Monday to Wednesday.

“We have a monthly monitoring in the province of establishments, especially those that carry products under mandatory certification, such as hardware, spare parts, electronic devices, and household appliances, to name a few,” Suralta said.

The establishments will be summoned for adjudication to determine the penalties.

Bato said the products that were issued with notices were taken down from the shelves and sealed for presentation as evidence. (PNA)
