Only one barangay out of the 61 villages in Bacolod City has not yet to hold the turnover of the government assets to the newly-elected barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) officials, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) said over the weekend.
DILG-Bacolod director Ma. Maredith Joy Madayag said Barangay Banago has yet to conduct the turnover “due to unavailability of time of the previous officials, particularly in the SK, because they have classes.”
Madayag assured that a turnover will be held before the newly-elected village officials assume their posts this week.
Arnel Benjamin, the newly-elected punong barangay of Banago, defeated Ricky Mijares in the October 30 barangay elections.
Meanwhile, Madayag said Handumanan punong barangay Ma. Febe Legaspi raised some concerns after the turnover.
Legaspi said financial records were not provided, stating that she did not know how much budget the barangay had left for now.
She also cited other concerns, including “unserviceable” computers, the P74,000 unpaid electricity bill, and the outdated vehicle registration records./MS, WDJ
