The Bacolod Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) urged the implementation of City Ordinance (CO) 1251, which prohibits business establishments from selling liquors to minors.
Councilor Jason Villarosa said the presence of minors at business establishments serving liquors has been observed to be alarming.
“Time will only tell the unwanted repercussions of teenagers who are unsupervised, oblivious and, worst of all, intoxicated,” he said.
He requested the City Tourism Office, Business Permits and Licensing Office, and City Legal Office to implement CO 1251 in the city, which penalizes store owners who sell liquors and other intoxicating substances to minors within their business establishments.
Erring establishments could face a one-month suspension of their business permits, an imprisonment of three months and/or fined P500 or both for the first offense; while a revocation of business permits, an imprisonment of six months and/or a fine of P1,000 or both will be imposed for the second offense./MS, WDJ
