Two alleged burglars were shot dead along Araneta Street in Bacolod City’s Barangay 15 early yesterday morning.
Police identified the fatalities as Nobert Aguda, a resident of the city’s Barangay 35; and Kenneth Jamandre of Barangay 16.
Police Major Elmer Bonilla, Station 1 commander, said, based on their investigation and witness accounts, the victims were walking along the street when two unidentified motorcycle-riding armed men opened fire at them.
The victims died on the spot while the suspects fled immediately.
Eight .45 caliber shells were recovered from the crime scene.
Bonilla said their background check revealed that the victims were allegedly involved in a string of burglaries in the city.
Police found a screwdriver and some pliers inside the victims’ bags.
Meanwhile, Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) director, Colonel Noel Aliño ordered his police force to solve the recent crime incidents, noting that the number of incidents has spiked.
BCPO spokesperson, Colonel Ronnie Brillo said Aliño has also directed double police visibility on city streets from late evening to early morning.
It was noted that most recent shooting incidents in the city were due to illegal drug activities./DGB, WDJ
