The F2 Logistics Cargo Movers picked up their second consecutive victory in the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) All-Filipino Conference by disposing the Galeries Tower Highrisers, 25-15, 25-22, 25-17, at the Candon City Arena in Ilocos Sur on Saturday night, October 28.

Save for a few shaky moments in the second frame, it was all the Cargo Movers’ show with Victorinara Galang spearheading the offense in the absence of Myla Pablo, finishing with 14 points.

Rookie Jolina dela Cruz and Mary Joy Baron backed her up with 11 and 10 markers, respectively. Ilongga Abigail Maraño, Ivy Lacsina and Kim Fajardo combined for 19 points for F2.

“Not perfect, but that’s how it is. Hindi naman straight line ang improvement. It’s a series of good and bad games. Eventually, magkakaron ng okay na laro,” Cargo Movers head coach Regine Diego said.

No Highriser scored in double-figures with Norielle Ipac’s seven markers proving to be the team’s best.

Rap Aguilar added six points, while Carlota Hernandez, Dimdim Pacres and Fhen Emnas chipped in three points apiece. They dropped to 0-4.

Meanwhile, the Petro Gazz Angels survived a tough stand from league newcomer Nxled Chameleons, 25-23, 25-21 and 25-22, to stay undefeated in the PVL’s season-ending conference.

Ilongga Aiza Maizo-Pontillas spearheaded the offense with 15 points, while Grethcel Soltones and Negrense Jonah Sabete drilled in 11 and 10 points, respectively, for the Angels, which improved to a 3-0 win-loss slate.

Angels assistant coach Steven Patrona said their tough victory against the Chameleons was a much-needed test for Petro Gazz, as their next matches are against the powerhouse squads in the league.

“We expected Nxled to put up a good fight. They have a good system and good coach,” Ilonggo Patrona said.

“But we did come into this match well-prepared and the team’s experience showed up,” he added.

Lycha Ebon and Camille Victoria finished with 10 markers apiece, while Jhoanna Maraguinot and May Luna came up with nine markers apiece as the Chameleons dropped to 1-2./ASC, WDJ
