The Bacolod Traffic Authority Office (BTAO) will implement a two-day road closure on Burgos Street near the Bacolod North Public Cemetery on All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day, November 1 and 2.
BTAO head, Police Major Junji Liba, said the full road closure will take effect from 6:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 1 to 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 2.
Public utility vehicles (PUVs) plying from Granada, Alangilan, Homesite, Sta. Fe, and San Dionisio to Burgos and Central Markets will be affected by the road closure.
BTAO will implement a rerouting scheme for PUVs on Lopez Jaena and Burgos streets, by entering Barangay Villamonte and passing through Ilang-ilang Street, and exiting Ylac Street.
Liba said a rerouting scheme was only implemented on Ilang-ilang Street during Undas last year.
“There’s a possibility that the vehicles will not fit and may cause traffic. So, we decided to implement a one-way traffic along the streets of Ilang-ilang and Ylac for the rerouting,” Liba said.
On October 31, a portion of Burgos Street will be partially closed for vendors selling flowers and candles.
At least 22 traffic aides will be deployed at the said cemetery to maintain a smooth traffic situation./MS, WDJ
