The Negros Occidental Provincial Veterinary Office (PVO) said a slight increase in the prices of chicken and eggs being sold in public markets has been observed.
PVO head, Dr. Placeda Lemana, said the price of small-sized eggs increased by P0.25 each, medium-sized at P0.50, large-sized at P0.10, and extra large-sized at P0.50.
A market monitoring revealed that Victorias City has the highest-priced dressed chicken at P225 per kilogram, while Murcia town has the cheapest price at P170 per kilo.
Meanwhile, the price of pork remains stable at P210 to P300 per kilo.
The PVO expects an increase in prices of commodities ahead of the holiday season.
Despite the slight price hike on poultry, Lemana said the supply of chicken, eggs and pork in the province is sufficient./DGB, WDJ
