Almost 17,000 Negrenses have gathered during the MassKara Festival 2023 Grand Countdown Salubong at the Bacolod City Government Center Grounds on Friday night, October 6.

Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) director, Colonel Noel Aliño, said 125 police personnel secured the Grand Salubong, implementing orderly and peaceful conduct for the event.

Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez said that the number of individuals who have witnessed the countdown was likely the same as last year.

Benitez invites everyone to witness the grandest celebration of this year’s 44th Masskara Festival.

He hopes that more people will come because there are lots of activities which are lined up to entertain the public during the 16-day festivities.

The mayor said the first family of President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. has been invited by the city government for the festival highlights on October 22.

Lone District Congressman Greg Gasataya and Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson were present during the Salubong.

The MassKara Festival officially opened on Saturday, October 7./MS, WDJ
