There were no confirmed cases of respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) in Bacolod City, despite reports that some private schools in the city have opted to hold classes online.
“So far, waay ang City Environment Sanitation Unit may gin-send out nga sample to determine if it is RSV or not,” Grace Tan, chief of City Health Office’s (CHO) Environment Sanitation Division, said.
Suspected RSV specimens will be sent to the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine for confirmation.
“But gahulat man kami nga may ma-receive nga report para ma-investigate. So far, wala kami may na-receive on that,” Tan said.
She added that the CHO and the health centers will accommodate consultations.
They reminded the public to still wear face masks in enclosed spaces to prevent the spread of diseases.
Meanwhile, CHO is now looking for a new venue to hold swab testing.
“We are trying to look as soon as possible for another venue to continue our swabbing for COVID-19 and other infections like dengue,” Tan said.
The CHO currently conducts swab testing at Bacolod Respiratory Outpatient Center at the BAYS Center, in front of the Bacolod Public Plaza./MS, WDJ
