The Northern Negros Electric Cooperative (Noneco) is currently working towards the immediate restoring of the power supply in Negros Occidental’s E.B. Magalona town, Victorias City and Manapla town, which have been experiencing brownouts for three days.
Atty. John Deles, Noneco’s Area Operations Department officer-in-charge, in a radio interview, said the brownout was caused by a lightning strike on their 15MBA transformer’s lightning arrester.
Deles added Noneco has temporarily sourced power from its five MBA transformers at the IPI Substation to provide electricity for the municipal and city halls, but it cannot cover the entire affected area.
Currently, Noneco is exploring various options to restore power supply to the affected areas.
These include connecting to the 15MBA spare transformer of the Central Negros Electric Cooperative or the Negros Oriental II Electric Cooperative.
Another option involves seeking assistance from other electric cooperatives with spare 15MBA substations or connecting to the Silay substation, requiring the installation of additional power poles towards the E.B. Magalona substation.
Noneco cannot yet confirm when the power supply will be fully restored, but Deles assured their customers that they are striving to resolve the power problem as swiftly as possible./DGB, WDJ
