The Negros Occidental provincial government remains hopeful despite losing its bid to host Palarong Pambansa 2024.
Provincial Administrator Atty. Rayfrando Diaz believes that the insurgency was not the only reason why the province lost the bid.
The capitol will not question the decision of the Palarong Pambansa board awarding the hosting bid to Cebu City for the national games next year, at the closing ceremony in Marikina City over the weekend.
Insurgency in Negros Occidental was one of the topics discussed during the province’s bid presentation at the Department of Education (DepEd) Central Office in July.
However, the Philippine Army and Philippine National Police assured DepEd that there are no peace and order issues in the province.
Diaz assures that the ongoing renovations at the Panaad Park and Stadium will continue, as it could still be used to host the Provincial and Regional Meet.
The provincial government is also planning to establish an Athlete’s Village at Panaad to support the training programs of local sports that may bring medals to the province in various sports events./DGB, WDJ
