Talisay Sharks wallop SJS-LS behind Barcelona’s 25 in UNBL

Talisay Sharks cruised to a lopsided 114-43 victory over St. Joseph School-La Salle (SJS-LS) Lineage to stay undefeated in the United Negros Basketball League (UNBL) 2nd Chairman’s Cup at the Msgr. John Liu Activity Center in Bacolod City.

Paul Barcelona continued his fine play for the Sharks as he finished with 25 points for his fourth Player of the Game honor. They also remained on top in Bracket B of the 15-and-under division with a 4-0 win-loss slate.

Ace Cortejo contributed 19 markers, Toby Orbista and John Gerardo finished with 17 and 14 points, respectively, Jerry Binguan ended with nine points, while Klyde Dominic Malaga and Christian Aniban had eight apiece for the Sharks.

Raffy Canatoy and Howard Gonzales delivered 12 and eight markers, respectively, for SJS-LS, which is currently in fourth place in the bracket after winning two games and dropping two more.

Meanwhile, Lorenzo Joaquin Lacson scored 23 points as St. John’s Institute-Bacolod Falcons (3-1) scored a lopsided 78-56 victory over the Bobcats, which remained winless in three games.

Matthias Alfonso Torre provided support to Lacson offensively with 12 points, Rhett Tabanao registered eight markers, while PJ Rasmo and Simon Limsiaco combined for 13 points.

Aethan Pimentel and Francis Lamasan scored 20 and 19 points, respectively, as Bacolod Tay Tung High School Thunderbolts tallied an 81-65 victory over NYBC. The Thunderbolts improved to 3-1, while NYBC dropped to 0-4.

Team Kenn leads Bracket A with a 4-0 record after outpointing University of St. La Salle (USLS), 73-54. Efren Manday, Jr. waxed hot with five three-pointers in the first half to finish with 22 points.

In the 17-and-under category, Mark Discartin tallied 19 points, while Kent Arriesgado and Andrei Gallego had 12 and 10, respectively, as Notre Dame outclassed 1Negros Jaguars, 86-47, for a 4-1 record in Bracket A.

USLS notched its fourth win in as many games in Bracket B after a 56-42 beating of Shockwave. Emmanuel Salvio top-scored for USLS with 13 points for the Player of the Game honors./ASC, WDJ
