The Himamaylan City police is currently in search for individuals or groups who allegedly roam in the city’s Barangay Carabalan, collecting money from residents in exchange for financial assistance or availing a livelihood program from the Office of the Vice President (OVP).
Himamaylan police chief, Lieutenant Colonel Reynante Jomocan, said they are actively searching for the individuals asking for P50 from residents, after receiving reports from Carabalan village chief Mildred Titolar.
Police urged scam victims to provide additional information about the persons involved.
On Wednesday, July 19, the OVP issued a public warning against the illegal collection of money by unscrupulous individuals or groups on behalf of the OVP.
“This is a scam,” the OVP said.
“Report activities like this to the police station or any local authorities,” it added.
The incident is under investigation./DGB, WDJ
