A man who allegedly tried to rob a house was wounded after he was mauled by angry residents in Bacolod City’s Barangay Alijis on Sunday morning, July 9.

Police identified the suspect as 27-year-old Geric Yulo, a resident of Purok Kaingin in the city’s Barangay Singcang-Airport.

Police Captain Andy Ofalia, Station 7 commander, said at around 5:00 a.m., Yulo allegedly broke inside a house in a residential neighborhood in Purok Mainuswagon.

However, Yulo was unable to get out of the house, and instead, he broke into another adjacent home.

A neighbor spotted him and alerted other residents as he attempted to escape.

However, the residents caught and mauled him until he was arrested by police.

Recovered from the suspect are a portable sewing machine, lamp and speaker, a power bank, two pairs of shoes, a voltage regulator, canned goods, a piggy bank, and a watch.

A background check of the suspect revealed that he served prison time at the New Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa City for homicide and illegal drug charges.

Yulo is now facing robbery charges and he is currently detained at Police Station 7./DGB, WDJ
