The Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) Police Station 8 considers the case of a Canadian national who murdered his Filipina wife before taking his own life inside their house as closed.
Police Captain Glen Montaño, Police Station 8 commander, said they are already trying to get in touch with the family of 55-year-old Ronald St. Jean in Canada.
Montaño said the police station have sent an email to the family explaining to them the incident on Friday, May 12, and giving them the choice if they want to claim St. Jean’s remains.
He added that some members of his family also went on vacation in Bacolod.
Meanwhile, St. Jean’s remains were temporarily placed beside his wife’s as per request by the Demerin family.
The relatives said the couple’s two sons, aged seven and 11, also want to see their father’s remains.
Montaño also added that the Demerin family is already processing the insurance documents for the couple’s children.
On Friday, St. Jean stabbed Liezel multiple times during a heated argument inside their house at Villa Mikaela Subdivision in the city’s Barangay Singcang-Airport.
St. Jean then tried to take his own life by slitting his wrist and stabbing himself in the chest.
The suspect then barricaded himself inside the house for three hours before police and barangay tanods were able to enter and arrest him.
He was later declared dead on arrival at the hospital./DGB, WDJ
