The decomposing human remains were found on the roadside at Barangay Recreo in Negros Occidental’s Pontevedra town yesterday morning.

Pontevedra police station commander, Major Romulo Gepilango, said the unidentified man, estimated to be in his 40s, was found beside a sack.

The body was already in an advanced state of decomposition, and was wearing only shorts, Gepilango said.

According to some residents in the area, the man was allegedly a mentally-challenged individual from San Enrique town.

The commander is currently coordinating with the San Enrique Police Station for verification.

As of yesterday, there were no reports of missing residents in the area./WDJ
