The Negros Occidental’s Silay City Police Station clarified that they have not recorded any abduction incidents in April following the recovery of the remains in Bacolod City’s Barangay Cabug.
Silay resident, 43-year-old Radney “Potot” Emplamado was recovered inside a drainage system of the Economic Highway on Tuesday night, May 2.
The victim’s mother and live-in partner claimed to Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) director, Police Colonel Noel Aliño, that the victim was allegedly abducted by four unidentified men on April 18.
However, according to Silay City police chief, Lt. Colonel Mark Anthony Darroca, they have not recorded any abductions from April 18 to May 3.
Darroca confirmed that Emplamado’s live-in partner, Lilibeth, approached the police station on Wednesday, May 3, reporting the missing victim.
A separate background check by the Silay City police also seems to affirm Aliño’s earlier statement that Emplamado had a previous drug charge.
He served prison time in 2015, but was released in 2019 after securing a plea bargaining agreement.
Darroca also said the police station is ready to cooperate with BCPO’s Police Station 9 with regards to the ongoing investigation into Emplamado’s death.
The victim was the third incident of recovered human remains in Bacolod this week.
Two others were found in a drainage system in neighboring Barangay Felisa on Sunday afternoon, April 30.
Following the string of recoveries of dead bodies and severed body parts, the BCPO is planning to create a special task force.
They also don’t rule out the possibility that a vigilante group may be operating in the metro./DGB, WDJ
