Krisha Dedoyco Aguillon of Bacolod Tay Tung High School athletics team delivered two gold medals for Negros Occidental in the 2023 WVRAA Meet at the Aklan Sports Complex in Makato town over the weekend.
The Bacolod City-native Aguillon captured her first gold in the secondary girls’ 100-meter dash in 12.57 seconds, beating Angel Villagracia of Capiz (12.64) and Mariel Anas of Iloilo (12.70).
Aguillon, younger sister of Far Eastern University athletics player Antonette Jay Aguillon, also won a gold in the secondary girls’ 200-meter with 25.63 seconds to outsprint Villagracia (25.70) and Cleo Azuelo of Iloilo (26.99).
Meanwhile, Mico Villaran added three more golds in the secondary boys’ 400-meter hurdles, 200-meter dash and 4×100-meter relay with Mardel Villaruel, RJ Medina and Wilkent Intok.
Febie Kate Brito also had two gold medals for Negros Occidental in the elementary girls’ 100-meter dash and 4×100-meter relay event against Aris Dioquino, Cherry Mae Magpusao and Marienne Villanueva.
Eiah Andrea Robles and Bhea Trayco had gold-silver medal finishes for Negros in secondary girls’ high jump, while Marianne Faith Pedales and Airex Gabriel Villanueva also added golds in elementary girls’ javelin throw and secondary boys’ discus throw.
Also with gold medals for Negros Occidental were John Castaneda in secondary boys’ 2,000-meter walk, Warren Sabanal secondary boys’ 5,000-meter, Justine Tiangson in elementary boys’ high jump, and Kenneth Pancho elementary boys’ 400-meter hurdles./ASC, WDJ
